Sara Zaccara
Assistant Professor
Hi, I'm Sara, an enthusiastic RNA lover, lucky to be the mentor of a dynamic, and interactive group.
My career has been committed to explore post-transcriptional regulation as a cancer hallmark.
During my PhD, I extensively studied how RNA binding proteins control the translation of p53 targets and how the modulation of these RNA binding proteins can affect cancer outcome.
In my post-doc, I made significant contributions to elucidate how the RNA modification m6A also plays as essential role in controlling mRNA fate. Importantly, my recent work clarifies earlier studies and proposes a new model of how m6A is controlled in cells.
As an independent investigator, I aim on building a diverse and inclusive lab environment where to uncover mechanisms involved in complex mRNA regulatory programs.
