Megan Korn

PhD student (rotation)

Hi! I’m a PhD student in the Integrated CMBS program at CUIMC, and I’m excited to be rotating in the Zaccara lab with fellow RNA enthusiasts.

During my undergraduate career, I studied chemistry and mathematics, and performed synthetic organic chemistry research in Jennifer Heemstra’s group at Emory University. It was here where I started appreciating the field of epitranscriptomics.

After a brief stint in the chemistry PhD program at the University of Michigan, my research passions led me to pivot towards more biology-focused research. I joined Robert Banh’s group at NYU Langone as a research technician, where my work focused on deciphering the role of mRNA mistranslation in cancer.

During my PhD, I aim to study the regulation of RNA with hopes of elucidating novel regulatory mechanisms. I’m particularly interested in the regulatory potential of RNA modifications, like m6A.
