Chenyu Zhang(Barry)

Master student at Columbia University

Hello, my name is Chenyu Zhang(Barry). I’m a master’s student at Columbia University majoring in Biotechnology.

When I was an undergraduate student, I worked in a lab for two years. The lab focused on using animal models to evaluate the new drugs. I participated in a project focused on colorectal cancer. We administered subcutaneous injections to mice to establish a disease model, while also injecting a new drug component into the mice. After the tumor reaches a certain size, the mice are euthanized, and the tumor tissue along with other tissues from the mice are collected. The gene expression levels and protein levels are then tested to see how this small molecule drug affects the expression levels of the BCL-2 and Caspase-3.

This summer I joined Dr.Zaccara lab. I hope to refresh my experimental skills and learn more about new techniques. Dr.Zaccara is an outstanding scientist in the field of RNA biology and m6A research. I’d like to gain a deeper understanding of how RNA modification influence tumor development.
